Come Ride With Us
Welcome! Grizzly Peak Cyclists is a bicycle club of about 600 members based in Berkeley, California.
We have club rides every weekend throughout the year, and many weekdays too. Roughly half our rides are in the East Bay; the rest are all over the San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond. Our ride calendar is posted every month on this website and in our newsletter. Our members' riding interests run the gamut. We have novices, intermediates, advanceds, and everything in between. Our rides are correspondingly diverse.
Anyone is welcome on our rides. Each ride is rated to indicate the expected terrain, pace, and distance, so you can choose a ride suited to your abilities. Be sure to review our rider guidelines before your first ride to avoid any surprises. Advance signup is not necessary, but feel free to contact a ride's leader in advance with any questions.
Grizzly Peak Century
Every year since 1975 we have hosted the Grizzly Peak Century. The event is known for its challenging but beautiful terrain and gourmet home-made food. For more information, see our century website. We hope to see you there next year on the first Sunday in May.
Every year, we make significant donations out of the proceeds raised from our Grizzly Peak Century to organizations and causes that promote or help bicycling in some way — be it advocacy, safety, education, awareness, or the bicycling environment. See our donations page for details.
GPC members are invited to join our Strava club. For more information see our member benefits page.
Club Meeting Wednesday September 9
It’s time to recognize and say thanks to our many hardworking club officers who do so much to make Grizzly Peak Cyclists a great club — and time to have fun and celebrate summer with a BBQ & ice cream social! Our hosts will be Dolores Apton and Mike Stein in Oakland. See your Wheel Truth for the address. We will start with a potluck BBQ dinner at 6:30 p.m., meeting at 7:30 p.m., with desserts and ice cream at 8:30 p.m.
The meeting agenda includes the presentation and first vote on the annual donations package for 2015. See our donations page for the proposal.
If you ordered clothing as part of our recent special order, you can expect your items to be available for pickup starting approximately September 21. We will update this page when the date is certain. Ordering information can still be viewed, but it is too late to submit an order.
Novice Series Continues through early September
Every summer, GPC offers a series of six rides expressly designed for less experienced bicyclists who want to ride more, and in the process increase their cycling abilities, learn about responsible group riding, and just plain have fun. The rides will be on six consecutive Sundays, and will gradually progress in distance from about 20 to about 40 miles. For more information see the Novice Ride Series page.
We have revamped our Cue Sheet Library and promoted it to the top level menu above with the new name Routes. All of the cue sheets and maps are still there, but now you can browse them grouped by region. You can also sort, filter, and search for routes meeting particular criteria. As before, you are invited to submit routes in electronic form to.
We continue to migrate a few remaining items from our old website to this new version. For a limited time, you can still browse our legacy website, but remember it is no longer being maintained, so information there may be obsolete. Address comments to .
